Election has remained the only constitutionally accepted means where the will of the people prevail in choosing those who preside over their affairs over a period of time as leaders especially, in a democratic setting like Nigeria where the same legal document provides for four years tenure for most of the public offices.
Most times, quality service delivery and and the need for consolidation, maintaining political stability through balancing, equity and fairness among different components with stakes in such offices as well as the thirst for sustaining the aura of the position, some leaders spare nothing out of the despensable efforts to exhaust the two tenures constitutional provision by circumventing the will of the people.
With employment and application of government apparati and control of its structures as an incumbent,Their re-election becomes more or less a walk over. But still, it does not deny the fact that activities that precipitate to the Inauguration of a new Government, basically, the Electoral process is always intense and turbulent as political parties and their candidates always adopt wide range of strategies that will undermine their opponents to outwit them and cruise to victory at the poll.
In view of the 2023 general elections in the country and with the ban on campaigns officially lifted by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), such political activities have started dominating different arenas, creating and building the usual uncertainty and suspense with different analysis, permutations and alignments by political parties, actors and supporters hitting the ground running with the sole aim of influencing the electorate and currying favour and as well securing their confidence to perform the role of their employers through the ballots.
In Ebonyi State, the situation is not different, as the political atmosphere is gradually charging with observers making deductions, putting the chances of political parties and their candidates wining the general elections on the scale of objectivity.
The true representation of such political high temperature was the two million match of the All Progressives Congress APC in the State under the auspices of the Umuekumeanyi Block on Saturday the 22nd of October, 2022 in the capital city of Abakakili which no doubt, seems to clearly demonstrated dominance of the party and it's candidates especially the present speaker of the state house of assembly, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who has the party flag for 2023 governorship race.
Under the able and most pragmatic leadership of the state party Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the city of Abakakili stood still for over four hours as both the young and the old threw their baton into the ring, echoing and re-echoing different slogans and declarations that underscore his acceptability. Such as "Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru will go for us", "FON is the man the cap fits", FON has delivered", His credibility has never been in doubt", "Governor David Nweze Umahi made the right Choice and Ebonyians are happy with him".
For the Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the match is nothing compared to what the people will see in months to come because his Governorship candidate, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is the only man who has the wherewithal, intellectual competence and sagacity, Attitudinal refined personality, sensitive and the empathy to respond positively to the yearnings and aspirations of Ebonyi people.
He has demonstrated capacity to sustain and build upon the enduring legacies of Governor David Nweze Umahi whose tenure in office has placed the state and her citizenry in the global arena as the fastest developing enclave and a state where justice, equity and fair play have always remained unchallenged.
The echoes from the two million March for many, have won the election for Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and other candidates presented by APC as a party to spearhead the affairs of Ebonyi people in few months to come.
So, Join the league of winners and let's continue to build Ebonyi State and her people under the Right Honourable Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru as the governor come 2023.
