Stakeholders and people of Unwana Community in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, have endorsed Gov. David Nweze Umahi as their sole Candidate for Ebonyi South Senatorial Position and Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as their consensus candidate for Governor of Ebonyi State in the 2023 General Elections.
The Community made the decision during an enlarged meeting of Leaders and Stakeholders, which was heavily attended by the High and mighty from the Community, including the Red Cap Chiefs, Political office holders,Youths, Women Group, executive members of Nzuko Unwara among others, at the Residence of the Director General of Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation, EBBC,Engr. Timothy Nwachi, to discuss the affairs of Unwana Community and to also chart a way to attract more Government presence in the Area.
Addressing the crowd shortly after the endorsement of Gov. David Umahi and Chief Francis Nwifuru as their Candidates for Senate and Governorship respectively, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Nnajiofor Ibiam, commended the People of Unwana for being focused in their support for the APC led Government of Engr. David Nweze Umahi and declared 100% votes for all Candidates of the Party in the forth coming General Elections.
The Afikpo North Council Chairman, eulogized Gov Umahi for the milestone achievements his administration has recorded in all Sectors of the State economy and declared that Unwana will join other Communities in Ebonyi South Senatorial District to elect him their Senator come 2023 and gave the assurance that the APC- Government at all levels shall continue to initiate policies and programmes that would turn around the fortunes of those at the grassroots, implored the people of Unwana to continue to sustain the existing peace and unity in the Area to attract more dividends of Democracy and commenced monthly payment of twenty thousand naira each to all the red cap Chiefs in Unwara and one hundred thousand naira to Elders Consultative Forum.
Earlier in his opening speech, the Convener of the Meeting and Director General of Ebbc, Engr. Timothy Nwachi, commended the Leaders and people of Unwana Community for their unfeigned Love for Gov. Umahi and total commitment to Ebonyi Project which has brought about heavy Government presence in the Community
He noted with satisfaction that Governor Umahi totally deviated from the divide and rule antics that characterised past leaders of the State to institutionalize an open door policy where all Citizens know how their Money is managed and commended Unwana Leaders and Stakeholders for their unanimous decision adopting Gov. Umahi as their sole Candidate for Ebonyi South Senatorial Seat and Chief Nwifuru for Governor and appealed to those who have not collected their permanent voters card to do so, in other to translate their decision into reality
Some of the stakeholders who spoke including, the Co-ordinator of Ubeyi DC, Apostle Peter Uduma Nwachi, Chief Okpani Ndukwe, Chief Egwu Okwua among others, noted that Unwana Community has proven to be APC in all ramifications and expressed confidence that APC would win the 2023 elections.
They therefore used the opportunity to advise the few in opposition parties to join the ruling APC now that the window period is open
and further thanked Chief Timothy Nwachi for organizing such a wonderful and interesting Get together and assured him and the Council Chairman that leaders and stakeholders of the community would always work as a team to take Unwana to an enviable height
