A political support Group, 'Onyinyechi Women Support Group', has been inaugurated in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the state, with the charge on members to begin a house-to- house canvassing for all candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC in the area.
Inaugurating the group, the Executive Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Hon Uchenna Nnajiofor Ibiam, underscored the strategic importance of women in electioneering process and the fact that women remains the highest Voters in election, hence the need to integrate them in a group. The number one citizen of Afikpo North explained that the essence of the group is to act as canvassers who will move from house to house across the 199 polling units and woo voters for their party, the APC.
Hon. Ibiam expressed joy on the massive attendance to the event and described it as a sign of wide acceptance of APC in the all nooks and crannies of Afikpo North Local Government Area.
He noted that the Support Group is the brain child of his wife who wants a platform that APC Women in the Area will use to deepen grassroot mobilisation for the Party and all her Candidates.
He charged members of Onyinyechi Support Group to commence door -to- door campaign as a way of rapidly expanding the frontiers of the Party at the grassroots.
Earlier in a Remark, the Chairperson of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Mrs. Onyinyechi Sandra Uche-Ibiam who was the Chairman of the event, thanked the women for the support and goodwill given to the administration of her husband and assured them that she will continue to carry them along in the scheme of things.
Stakeholders who spoke during the event including, former Speaker, Ebonyi state House of Assembly, and Chairman, Divine Mandate Campaign Council, Afikpo North LGA Chapter, Rt. Hon Christopher Omo Isu; DG, Divine Mandate Campaign Council, Afikpo North and Director General ,Ebonyi Broadcasting Cooperation EBBC, Engr Timothy Nwachi; S.A to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Chief Chooks Oko; S.A to the Governor on Government House,Hon (Mrs) Amauche Otunta Godwin; Member III, Secondary Education Board SEB, Chief Donatus Ezeogo Aja; Afikpo North APC Chairman,Hon. Nicodemus Egwu; former member of Local Government Advisory Committee, Chief Ewans Ogbonnia Ewa; Coordinator of Afikpo North East DC, Hon Innocent Inya Eluu, APC Candidate for Afikpo North East State Constituency, Chief Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali, all commended the wife of Afikpo North Chairman, for her initiative and assured of their support that will enable her record huge successes in all her plans and programmes.
Others who spoke with our reporter include the State APC legal Adviser, Barr. I.L. Ukeni, Apostle Peter Uduma, Coordinator Ubeyi Development Center; John Okochi, former state secretary of APC among others expressed their readiness to support the group and to work together for the victory of APC in the area.
Mrs. Queeneth Ibiam Inya Agha who spoke on behalf of Wives of Coordinators and Mrs. Patience Urom who spoke on behalf of members of Onyinyechi Support Group appreciated the Chairperson for her laudable initiatives and promised to join hands with other stakeholders of the Party to deliver all their candidates in the forth coming General Elections.
