Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State said, notable personalities and leaders in the state have continued to show support for equity and established zoning formula in the state, stressing that the former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim has thrown his weight behind the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in the March 11, gubernatorial and State Assembly elections in the state.
Governor Umahi stated this on Wednesday, during a Local Government Rally held at Isiaka, the Headquarters of Ivo Local Government Area.
The Governor while applauding the people for their solidarity to his administration and massive turnout to the rally, urged them to vote for Candidates of the Party in the forthcoming general elections.
"We are lucky to have everybody in Ivo Local Government Area including Senator Anyim Pius Anyim supporting Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru; who else is remaining? Nobody."
Governor Umahi announced the mobilization of over two thousand Ebonyians to receive the former Vice-president Atiku Abubakar to Ebonyi State on Thursday in addition to the use of the Pa Ngele Oruta Township already granted the PDP in the State in the interest of solidarity.
The Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Rachel Umahi in her speech called on the people to vote for the APC Governorship Candidate and other Candidates for the continuity of good governance in Ebonyi State and the Centre.
The Governorship Candidate, Chief Francis Nwifuru lauded the Ivo people for their warm reception and solidarity, pledging that his administration would deal fairly with the people if elected in March this year.
Earlier, the Director General of the Divine Mandate Campaign Council, Chief Austin Umahi, the Director General, Women Wing, Mrs Catherine Ogbu, the State Chairman of APC, Chief Stanley Emegha called on Ivo people to vote across board for APC Candidates for continued transformation of the area.
Welcoming the mammoth crowd, Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area, Mr. Ogbonnaya Ude expressed the readiness of the people to vote massively for Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru and other Candidates of APC in the forthcoming general elections.
In their goodwill messages, Chief James Aro Nweke, Commissioner for Works and Transport, Chief Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Chief Orji Uchenna Orji appreciated Governor Umahi for the massive infrastructural development in the area and for equitable representation of the Council in appointments.
They assured that the people would vote massively for all Candidates of APC in the general elections.
"Your Excellency, we want to assure you that your people shall be our people, wherever you go, we shall go."
The APC Candidate for Ohanivo Federal Constituency, Felix Igboke, Candidate for the House of Assembly, Chief Onyebuchi Ogbadu appealed to the people to cast their votes for them on the assurance that they would represent them effectively.
Highpoint of the rally was blessing and adoption of all APC Candidates as their Candidates for the forthcoming general elections by Traditional Rulers of Ivo Local Government Area.
