The Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on Internal security, Hon Eze Panchris Ikechukwu has assured those who are delighted in killing people and destroying of properties in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the readiness of the Ebubeagu Security outfit in collaboration with other security agencies in the state to wage war against their unlawful Carnage in the area.
Eze, who was angered by the killing of the pregnant wife of Afikpo South Ebubeagu Commander by the same militia boy allegedly sponsored by the former Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Chairman, Barr Eni Iduma Chima, who is also the house of reps candidate for Afikpo North/South Federal Constituency in the February election.
The special Assistant to Governor on Internal security warned that the Ebubeagu Security outfit can no longer watch criminals overrun any part of the state.
He noted further that Ebubeagu security has refused to go after those boys because of the peace call by the state Governor, Engr David Umahi, but they have refused to heed to the call and went ahead to kill the commander's wife and set his home ablaze for just no cause.
"I want to warn those who called themselves warriors of Edda or Ekoli that the killings is enough and enough is enough.
"When His Excellency said that everywhere should be calm, they went and killed the seven months pregnant wife of Ebubeagu Commander in Afikpo South and burned down his house.
"I want to make it clear and very clare to them that this time, we are not going to allow them go free. We're going to get them wherever there are. They have been identified because when they were coming, the commander saw them, pictured their faces and know them by their names and even the Coordinator, (Okechukwu Chima Ogbuagu) who is involved has been arrested and he is with the police now. These are the same boys that attacked the state APC chairman Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha on the 26th December. We have five Ebubeagu security personnel stationed at Ekoli junction who has provided the police with detailed information about what happened. The have confessed to the police that it was Zino, who is also a loyalist to Eni Iduma Chima that killed the youth leader, Eseni Agwu.
"After the directives of His Excellency, that they should be no shooting in Edda, they went and killed a Seven months pregnant wife of Ebubeagu Commander and burnt his house. Ebubeagu will not allow this thing go like that. We must fish all of them out anywhere there are. It is no longer going to be business as usual. We will get wherever they are.
"Some of those boys were former Ebubeagu members nominated by Eni Iduma Chima and after the local Government election and swearing in of the new Chairman, they refused to work with the local Government command of Ebubeagu again. We called them to come to the office, they refused to come. Even the pump action rifles that were assigned to them, they refused to return them and that was what they used to kill the youth leader, Eseni Agwu and they had also used same to attack one of our Ebubeagu security who is still in the hospital as we speak, they are all working with Eni Iduma Chima.
"Later we heard that they said anytime Government failed to pay them that they are going to strike which they did. The Chairman went home on 26th December to celebrate with his people they attacked him and we have been hearing such information and we told the chairman. The Ebubeagu Security posted there told us that even when the youth leader came and told them that should calm down that it is not a war that they should not go and burn somebody's house they said they are going to burn two persons house, the chairman and one man working with oil company in Port Harcourt. Unluckily to them, the man came back with soldiers because he got the information and they couldn't get to the man's house and went and burn the Chairman's house and killed his younger brother. The dead Youth Leader was not party to the burning of the house. The Zino that killed the youth leader contested the youth leadership with him and lost, when the youth leader said that they should not burn the house they started having issues with him and Zino shot him.
"I am using this medium to warn and assured them of our readiness to respond adequately without fear or favor. We respected His Excellency's call for peace, but with this recent action, they have shown that they are not ready for peace and we will give them what they want.
"They are not bigger than the police or other security agencies or the Government. Eni Iduma Chima should also know that and know it very well that he is not above the law".
"I assure the police and other sister security agencies that Ebubeagu is duty bound to support them in fishing out these marauding blood tasty beast and serve justice accordingly".
Recall that on the 26th December, 2022, a gang of armed hoodlums attacked the convoy of Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, who is also the special security consultant to Ebonyi State Government, killing his police ordly inspector Festus Akpan, his younger brother, Emeka Orji and thereafter, set his home ablaze.
