Gov David Umahi on Thursday, said the renewed communal crises between the Amasiri people in Afikpo North local Government Area and that of Oso Edda people in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state is politically motivated, attributing the recent crises and killings to the opposition people's Democratic party, the PDP in the area.
Umahi urged the people to give him chance to bring the crises to permanent end.
Governor David Nweze Umahi stated this during APC Local Government Rally for Afikpo South at Nguzu Edd.
He expressed joy over the return of peace on Ekoli Edda recently engulfed by crises, noting thatit took the cooperation of Stakeholders of the Community to resolve contentious issues and return the place to normalcy.
"I am happy to announce to you that peace has finally returned to Ekoli Edda, I thank the security Agencies, I thank Senator Sonni Ogbuoji and all those God used to do this job for listening to me."
Governor Umahi while noting that he is already brokering peace between Amasiri and Oso Edda appealed to the warring Communities to cooperate with him to resolve the crisis.
The Governor while urging the people to vote for all APC Candidates in the forthcoming general elections, assured them that in addition to the completed Iyere Flyover, his administration would be commencing the construction of a water scheme in the area within the next two weeks to tackle problems of perennial water scarcit.
The Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Rachel Umahi while appreciating the people for their solidarity called on them to cast their votes for all APC Candidates in the election.
The Governorship Candidate, Right Honourable Francis Nwifuru promised to consolidate on Governor Umahi's achievements in Edda land if elected in the March Guber poll.
The Minister of State for Health, Chief Joseph Ekumankama assured that the people would reciprocate the Government's sensitivity to their plights in the polls.
The Director General of the Divine Mandate Campaign Council, Chief Austin Umahi and Director General, Women Wing, Mrs Catherine Ogbu and the State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Emegha appealled to the people to vote massively for APC at all levels as a way of repaying the development in Edda land.
The Candidate for Afikpo North/South Federal Constituency, Chief Eni Uduma Chima appealed to Edda people to vote for Chief Francis Nwifuru for Governorship and other Candidates of APC for continuity of good governance in the State.
The Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Area, Mr. Chima Ekumankama, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji, Chief Mike Okoro, Okenwa Nnachi Uka, Chief Sunday Ugwuocha among others thanked the Governor for his breathtaking projects in the area and promised to work hard to deliver all APC Candidates in the forthcoming general elections in the Council.
The Traditional Rulers of Edda later blessed and adopted all APC Candidates as theirs ahead of the general elections.
