The Special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on Internal security, Hon Eze Panchris Ikechukwu (Power) has described those sponsoring court cases against the South East Security outfit, Ebubeagu,in Ebonyi State, as the real enemies of the state and the people.
Eze, while reacting to the Federal High Court judgement disbanding the operation of Ebubeagu security outfit in Ebonyi State declared that those that has been on constant calls for the disbandment of Ebubeagu are the sponsors of the killings and other security challenges in south east, Ebonyi inclusive and vowed that everything legally permissive will be done to ensure that Ebubeagu security outfit remains on ground to continue in their lawful duty of protection of lives and property of Ebonyians and other inhabitants of the state.
He opined that the positive impact of Ebubeagu is felt across the nooks and crannies of the state, stressing that since the inception of Ebubeagu, the state has experienced peace.
"Ebubeagu have come to stay. Without the presence of Ebubeagu crime would have been on the high side. Ebubeagu has done well in the area of intelligence gathering, combating of criminals and bandits in this state. With the help of Ebubeagu Ebonyi State was able to resist the urgly culture of sit-at- home order in Ebonyi State. Insessant cult clashes, vehicle theft, kidnapping and criminal tendencies has been totally reduced in the state.
"I want to say it again, those people against Ebubeagu are the enemies of government and the people and they are the sponsors of IPOB, the unknown gunmen attacks and the killings of Ebubeagu in the state. So, they should know that without Ebubeagu, the security of the state is not guaranteed.
"I want the opposition who are championing the calls for the disbandment of Ebubeagu to be aware that Ebubeagu security is not partisan, for instance, if they receives distress call, they don't ask if it is from PDP of labor party or any other, rather they act because their duty is to protect lives and property of all Ebonyians irrespective of party affiliation o tribe".
"I urge them to stop the unnecessary castigation and attacks on Ebubeagu but should support them to better secure the state for the good of all", he concluded.
