The Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Hon.(Barr) Sunday Nwankwo , Wednesday attended the Grand Finale of the 2023 Okeaku Ezza held at the Ancestoral Home of Ezza Ezekuna , Onueke, Ezza South LGA, Ebonyi State.
The Chairman who spoke on behalf of the good people of Ikwo Noyo Clan said that the importance of Okeaku Festival cannot be overemphasized. He noted that its Celebration has brought peace among Unwuekumenyi and showcased their cultural heritage.
"On behalf of the good people of Ikwo Noyo Clan, I bring message of love and peace to the good people of Ezza Ezekuna as you Celebrate your Okeaku Festival today.
"Okeaku Festival marks the commencement of the New Calendar year and ends the planting season especially the planting of yam which is predominantly grown by Ezza People and ushers in the consumption of new yam.
"Let us use this period of Celebration to preach love and peace among our brothers and sisters especially Unwuekumenyi.
"As we celebrate this year's Okeaku Festival, may the Celebration bring more fortunes to Ezza Ezekuna and unify Unwuekumenyi".
Highlights of the event were Exchange of gifts,Cultural display and testimonies from sons and daughters of Ezza Ezekuna.
The Grand Finale of this year's Okeaku Festival witnessed the presence of sons and daughters of Ezza Ezekuna, Unwuekumenyi including the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who was represented by the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly,Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa.
