In his bid to advance the course of judicial reform in Ebonyi state, the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Ben Uruchi Odoh, has extended his courtesy and advocacy visit to the new Commissioner of police, Ebonyi state Command, CP Augustina Ogbodo.
Dr Odoh, while on the visit acknowledged that meaningful judicial reform cannot be achieved without forming a strong synergy with relevant stakeholders, which the police is one.
"No one can make a difference all by themselves. As a matter of fact, no sane individual begins the journey of national transformation without soliciting the support of relevant stakeholders.
"When you work alone, you get just a fraction of work done, whereas the result is different when you work with a team of dedicated minds.
"This is why we're here to solicite your support as the new Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, and your team of patriotic officers".
The Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for justice Congratulated the new Commissioner of police, CP Augustina Ogbodo on her well deserved elevation and accomplishment in the state.
"First and foremost, may we offer again, our unreserved felicitation to the Commissioner on her recent accomplishment as the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State.
"Indeed, this is expected as she has worked assiduously to take the Nigeria Police Force to greater heights".
Dr Odoh stressed further that the courtesy visit was to identify with the Commissioner and her accomplishmentent and further solicit her involvement in their mission for restorative justice system in Ebonyi state.
"This courtesy call to your office is to identified with your accomplishments, thereafter solicited your involvement and that of her team in Ebonyi Restorative Justice Team.
"Other aspects of our discussion revolved around a strengthened Police, training of personnel and other matters of state interest".
On her part, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ogbodo assured the Attorney General and his team of the endless support and the backing of the Police in achieving the lofty goal of a transformed justice system in Ebonyi State.
Dr Odoh expressed optimism that the outcome of the visit will help drive the transformative vision of Governor Francis Nwifuru administration, expressing hope of harmonious relationship with the police and the state ministry of justice.
"I am certain that with the concerted efforts of the Police, Ministry of Justice and other stakeholders, the transformative vision of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru will become a reality.
"By the special grace of God, we will work with the Police to eradicate unnecessary torture while in Police custody, unqualified Police officers posing as solicitors in law courts, among other things.
"We look forward to a harmonious relationship between the Police and Ebonyi State Ministry of Justice".
