The association also urged the state government to look into the security challenges facing the millers in the state.
The Rice Millers Association who recently elected it"s new leadership, vowed to partner the state government to ensure that the state moves forward
The state chairman of the Rice Millers Association, Mr. Nweke Chukwuma made this known while speaking with newsmen, shortly after the Okaku new yam festival organized in the honour of the leadership of the association, held at a venue located near the Rice Mill, Oguja road Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State.
Nweke stated that the purpose of hosting the Okaku new yam festival of Ezza Ezekuna with the Millers, was to foster peace and unity among all the members of the association in the state.
According to him: "We don't have an issue with anybody and we don't intend to have, and that's why we are celebrating, and thanking the Almighty God, the governor Francis Nwifuru and the former governor, David Umahi for their doggedness in contributing to the progress and well being of Rice Millers in Ebonyi state.
"Our intention is to unite everybody; Ezza, zzi, Ikwo, Ijekabe and all members of the Rice Millers Association. We are at peace with everybody and we don't want any division.
Nweke who doubles as the chairman of Ezza Ezekuna Rice Dealers association, stated further that: "We are ready to support the government of Ebonyi State led by governor Francis Nwifuru, who is leading us, and we believe that he will continue to lead us very well.
"There have been no crisis in the association since the emergence of the new leadership. We have always been disposed to hear the challenges facing the members of the association. we are for them, and ready always to assist, as God helps us with wisdom to entertain their problems.
"We are ready always to respect and obey the Federal and state government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and governor Francis Nwifuru. But we call on the governor to assist us in the area of security and health of the Rice Millers.
"We face a lot of health hazards, especially these women who works at the Rice Mill. Many of them after inhaling the rice dust, falls sick and needs a health centre where they can go and take treatments.
He further called on the youths to be patient, peaceful and loyal to stakeholders, especially at the Rice Mill, to enable them learn better and become better leaders of the state in the nearest future.
