The wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Uzoamaka Nwifuru has said her office will collaborate with the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, in the state to secure the release and rehabilitation of innocent incarcerated women from prison.
Mrs Nwifuru said collaborating with the Association will forestall the abuse of women and children maintaining that her office will be using the multi-faceted approach involving partnership of governments, law enforcement agencies, civil society organisations, and individuals in the fight.
The first Lady said this when she received members of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Ebonyi State Chapter, led by Barr. Esther N. Ajaero Anyigor during a courtesy visit, in her office, New Government house, Centenary City, Abakaliki. The FIDA Ebonyi State Chapter used the occasion to award the wife of the Governor, as the Grand Matron of FIDA, Ebonyi state Chapter.
Mrs Nwifuru applauded the women lawyers for their pro bono services offered to indigent women and children in the state to protect their rights.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of the association, Esther N. Ajaero Anyigor said they can to familiarize with Her Excellency and also expressed readiness to support the governor's wife at all times especially when her pet project is launched.
