The senior Special Assistant to Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi state on Internal Security, South, Comrade Okenwa Nnachi Uka, has underscored the critical Importance of information and intelligence sharing in security management.
The SSA made the assertion on Tuesday, during a continuation of his familiarization tour of police formations across the five local Government Areas of Ebonyi South Senatorial zone of the state.
Comrade Okenwa Uka averred that security of life and property of the people remains the primary objective of Government and information sharing is key to achieving a secured society, hence the need for healthy synergy with the police being the number one in terms of security in Nigeria.
"We all understands and appreciate the place of police when you come to protection of life and property of the people.
"My reason for this visit is for us to synergize together in crime prevention, and Information sharing is key to achieving this. And I feel there's need for us to share information for us to properly secure our people. Our Governor, His Excellency Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru places high premium on the security of life and property of our people, that's why in his first appointment, he appointed special Assissments on security across the thirteen local government Areas of the state and thereafter, appointed Senior Special Assistants on the same Internal Security for Senatorial zones , which by the Grace of God, I am the Senior Special Assistant on Internal for this zone, which is made up of two Area commands and seven Divisions.
"I am here because I want us to work together to better secure our people and to also know some of the challenges facing you at the course of your duty. We are the locals. We know the terrain. If we synergize very well it will be easier for both sides and at the end of the day, we will achieve a peaceful society. If we synergize and share information it will help to prevent the Crime from happening".
In their separate responses, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Abomege Division, SP Ndubuisi Sunday, Commended the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor for the visit, describing it as the best of its kind and thoughtful. He assured him of total support and cooperation, stressing that such cooperation will make their job easier for them considering the peculiar nature of the area.
He mentioned the deplorable working environment and lack of patrol vehicles as some of the challenges facing the Division. Sp Ndubuisi appreciated Governor Nwifuru for setting up peace and reconciliation committe to resolve the lingering Abomege and Ishinkwo comunual Crises, expressing confidence that the committee will bring a lasting peace in the area.
On his part, CSP Nwanshi Ajinlo poured encomium on the Senior Security aide to the Governor assuring him of the total cooperation of his Division. He said that his challenge in the Division is hoarding of information by some leaders in the community which he said, is making the job a beat difficult but expressed optimism that his visit will change the narrative.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Ebonyi South, also visited Uwanna Division where CSP Ngozi Vitalis were on ground to welcome him. She lamented the area has no standard police station and there's no single operational vehicle to respond to distress call. She equally lamented on the activities of vigilantes in the area, which she said, has taken over the police job in the area.
Other Divisional headquarters visited included the Owutu Edda, in Edda local Government, Ishiagu in Ivo Local Government, Obiozora in Ohaozara local Government and Isu and Oshiri in Onicha Local Government Area, where the DPOs CSP Ayodele, CSP Gabriel Urom, CSP David Thomas, and SP Paul Njoku sexpressed joy over the visit assuring him of their determination to collaborate and ensure that the Area is adequately secured.
Recall that upon assumption of office as the senior special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Ebonyi South, Comrade Okenwa Nnachi Uka, had visited the two Area commands in the zone, Ohaozara and Afikpo commands, in his bid to form a strong synergy with security stakeholders in ensuring adequate security of life and property of the people in the area.
