Ebonyi state Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru on Tuesday said, the Housing Estate embarked upon by the State Government for the resettlement of Izzo and Amaeze Communities in Ishielu Local Government Area will be completed within four months.
The Governor who stated this while performing the Ground - Breaking ceremony said the decision is part of steps by his administration to entrech lasting peace in any crisis - laden community through various forms of support as contained in his manifesto .
"We have come today not just to begin the process of meeting you and your families , but importantly , we are here to perform a divine function of reconciliation, bringing your hearts together to once more be compatible so that you can live in love'
The Governor who drew references from tte Holy bible, appealed to the two Communities to put behind events of the past and embrace forgiveness.
" There is a proper saying that to err is human, while to forgive is divine. That is to say that the one who sins acts humanly . This is because it is part of our attributes as humans to err or sin. On the other hand , the one who forgives acts divinely '
The Governor who disclosed that 50% of the contract sum has been released to the Ministry in charge of the project, said government will frown at any one who derails from the contractual terms or agreement.
The Chairman of the Council, Mr . Obinna Onwe commended the Governor for the bold steps which he said will alleviate the sufferings of the displaced persons from the community.
The Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Martin Elechi who spoke at the event said the peace initiative of the Governor will help to bring lasting peace to the community and called on communities across the State to live in peace to attract more development.
The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Francis Ori said all necessary arrangements have been completed , assuring that the project will be completed in record time.
