The former member of the House of Representatives, OHANIVO Federal Constituency, Hon. Livinus Makwe has formally, announced his resignation of his membership of the people's Democratic party PDP.
Addressing his supporters and PDP members in his Amuzu Amagu country home, Ivo Local Government Area of the state, Hon Makwe who served as federal Lawmaker from 2019-2023 noted that his decision to quit the PDP was due to retrogressive nature of the party, hence the need to pitch tent with the moving party.
Makwe however, noted that he is yet to pitch tent with any political party as he is still consulting to know the party that bears the vision of bettering the lots of the masses.
He stated also that before making his resignation open to the public, he had earlier met with his ward Chairman where he formally handed over his resignation letter to him.
In a swift response to his resignation, all the structures of PDP in IVO LGA and top stakeholders of the party immediately announced their resignation from the PDP stating that Hon. Makwe is a leader that deserved all loyalty.
Among those who announced their resignation include the PDP Youth leader Ivo LGA, Hon. Ukah Samuel Aroh (Ogide), Mrs. Patricia Anyim and over 500 PDP women expressed their happiness and confidence in the leadership of Hon. Makwe and further declared their support and announced their readiness leave the PDP and join any party that Hon. Makwe may wish to pitch his tent with.
Others include Hon. Chukwu Cornelius (Oriokata) who contested Chairmanship election under PDP in the last local government election alongside 11 councillorship contestants announced their resignation from PDP in support of Hon. Makwe's decision.
Also, the forum of PDP former Councillors through their spokesperson Hon. Justice Uka announced their resignation from PDP and declared their readiness to join Hon. Makwe to any party of his choice.
In their seperate speeches, Hon. Chrismok Okereke, Hon. Aro Simeon, Hon. Fabian Uka, Hon. Rev. Ezeoke, Hon. Laz Uwaju and numerous other founding fathers of PDP in IVO LGA declared their support for Hon. Makwe and announced their readiness to join in to any political party of his choice.
In the same vein, the Deputy governorship candidate of Labour party in the last general election Hon. Prince Ajah Nwabueze announced his resignation from LP and promise to announce his next political movement in no distant time.
In a similar development, six local Government chairmen of the people's Democratic party PDP in the state has also announced their resignation from the party, citing personal reasons as their motive for resignation.
The chairmen include, Barr Agbom Friday, PDP Chairman, Ezza south; Nwofe Philip Don, PDP Chairman, lzzi LGA and Nwobasi Ude Chizoba, PDP Chairman, Ohaozara LGA. Others are Chukwu Micheal, PDP Chairman, lvo LGA;Ifere Sunday Bright, PDP Chairman, lkwo LGA and Ndukwe Orji Okam, PDP Chairman, Afikpo south.
