Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State on Thursday, presented the 2024 fiscal year appropriation budget estimate of 202,127,918,907.00 billion naria to the state house of Assembly.
The governor, Nwifuru while presenting the budget christened 'budget of Innovation and progress' said the Proposed 2024 Budget estimate will assist his administration to meet up with the peoples charter of needs.
The budget, which is the first since assumption of office, has a total sum of 132,804,740,000 billion naria as capital expenditure, while 41,161,100,000 billion naria is a Recurrent expenditure.
Nwifuru noted that his administration will focus more on Health and education, Economic development, social integration, Urban-Rural connectivity and tourism potential in the 2024 fiscal year.
Ebonyi Times Newspaper gathered that, in the budget estimate, administration sector took 41,243,151, 900.00 representing 27percent, Economic sector took 90,389,600,000.00 representing 10percent, law and justice has 3,589,365,007 representing 37percent, Regional sector -714, 010,000 representing 95%, while social sector took the highest 66billion representing 66percent.
The governor also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his numerous assistants to the state, adding that: “Let me wholeheartedly thank the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for his assistance to our dear State cannot be easily quantified, it is far reaching and we would not be able to achieve the goals of our State without the generosity he has accorded us” he stated.
Meanwhile, the budget on Thursday, passed through first reading at the floor of the State House of Assembly in a motion moved by the House leader, Mr. Ikoro Kingsley, representing Afikpo North west constituency and seconded by Chukwu Arinze representing Ishielu South constituency in the state house of Assembly.
The Speaker, Moses Ije Odunwa however Commended the state Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru for the prompt presentation of the 2024 budget estimate to the State House of Assembly, assuring him of the speedy passage of the budget estimate into law so as speed up the economic development of the state in line with the Governor's people charter of needs mantra.
