The Executive Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Barr. Sunday Nwankwo on Friday, presented before Ikwo Legislative Council, the 2024 budget estimate of Six billion,three hundred and forty three million,four hundred and sixty five thousand, four hundred and thirty one naira ninety eight Kobo (N6,343,465,431.98).
The budget estimate tagged, 'budget of continuity and consolidation of people's charter of needs', has recurrent expenditure of two Billion, three hundred and thirty one million, five hundred and sixty three thousand, thirty three naira sixty-two kobo (N2,331,563,033.62) representing 36.76% while Capital expenditure stood at four billion, eleven million,nine hundred and two thousand, three hundred and ninety-eight thousand thirty six kobo (N4,011,902,398.36) representing 63.24% of the total budget estimate.
Speaking to the legislative council members and other senior stakeholders of the council present at the event, Barr Nwankwo Commended the healthy synergy that has existed between the Executive and the Legislature arm of Government.
"I am delighted and highly elated to stand before you today,the 22nd day of December,2023, to fullfll my constitutional obligation and responsibility of BUDGET ESTIMATE presentation for 2024 Fiscal year.
"May I use this opportunity to apprereciate this Honorable House for her unalloyed, unique and uncommon dedication to duty. I salute all of you for being Honorable at all times. It has been a worthwhile collective journey and your unwavering dedication can't be taken for granted.
"May I equally use this opportunity to thank you for the approval of 2023 budget and I can stand here to inform you that it has been a success story of substantial implementation with the attendant positive impact. In line with the provisions of that budget ,We have been able to deliver democracy dividends to the people of Ikwo Local Government Area within the fiscal year.
"The feedback from the people attests to the fact that the budget implementation was impactful and in consonance with the welfarial objectives of the present administration in the State.
"I look forward to the accelerated passage of this Budget Estimate to enable proceed with its full implementation".
The Chairman also appreciated the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State for his generosity to the people of Ikwo.
"Let me at this point thank the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt.Hon.Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his fatherly love and caring disposition to the good people of Ikwo Noyo. I can rightly assert without equivocation that we at Ikwo LGA has had it good under the current administration in the State".
The Leader Ikwo Legislative Council and Councilor Ekpaomaka Ward began by stepping down the legislative Rules via a motion, to applaud the presence of the Council Boss who by all conceivable ranks within his powers, has done Ikwo proud.
He assured the Council Chairman of speedy attention to the Budget, for timely implementation and to ensure there is no hitch in the delivery of dividends of democracy being enjoyed in the Council.
The legislative council members at the event, passed of confidence on the council Chairman, in a motion moved by the chief whip of the council and councilor of Amainyima ward, Mrs Janeth Nweke, enumerated the lofty and life-touching achievements of the council Boss urging his colleagues and the entire people of Ikwo to support the legacy administration of Barr Sunday Nwankwo as it has impacted positively on the lives of the people. The motion was thereafter, seconded by Mr John Nweke Ome, councilor of Ekpelu ward and was put to vote by the leader of the council Mr Stephen Nwukwu which was unanimously sustained.
Other stakeholders who spoke with our correspondent include the former Chairman of the council Barr Igberi Nweme, the APC Chairman, Ikwo local Government Area, Mr Sunday Oñuzu among others, eulogized the transformative achievements of the council Chairman, Barr Sunday Nwankwo and assured him of their continued support and solidarity to enable him continue on the path of delivering the needed dividends of democracy to the good people of Ikwo.
