Ebonyi state chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, on Monday recieved another set of defectors from the opposition people's Democratic party PDP and Labor party LP into the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the state.
Welcoming the defectors led by the member of State House of Assembly representing Abakaliki North Constituency, Hon. Victor Nwoke Chidi, enjoined the lawnmaker and his supporters to feel and make their contribution to progress, peace and development of the state, reiterating that the state Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has shown his good intention of lifting the state from the dongeon of poverty and retrogression to the envy of all.
He said that the Lawmaker have finally arrived in the home he rightly belonged to, assured the lawmaker of a level playing ground and promised that he will be carried along in the scheme of things.
"I welcome you and your supporters into the ruling party, you people have arrived now to the home you rightly belonged to, I want to assure you of a level playing ground, and you will be carried along in the scheme of things in the party and your rights will be fully protected".
The lawmaker who defected during the inauguration of the local Government Committee of BERWO, the Pet Project of the wife of the Governor of Ebonyi State cited lingering and irreconcilable crisis rocking the PDP both at State and National level and also due to the achievements and leadership prowess of the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru which is centred on the Peoples Charter of Need.
"The crisis pitching between the former Vice President of Nigeria and the party's Presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the immediate past Governor of Rivers State and current minister of FCT, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike which is causing a lot of disquiet within the party. The party has seriously engulfed in leadership crisis to the extent that it has polarised the party into fierce contending groups and has left one of the factions a nose-diving into a serious insignificance and failed attempts to upstage the National Chairman who is believed to be a stooge of the minister of FCT, this has bedeviled the party into leadership struggle, the leadership struggle between Wike and Atiku has witnessed an unprecedented loss of members to other political parties even as it grapples with its own micro crisis".
"More So, due to the leadership prowess of the Governor of Ebonyi State, *His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru* which is centered on the Peoples Charter of Need, The Governor of Ebonyi State is a paradigm of perfection, an apportioisis of human care and succour, his administration has exemplified the tenets of humanitarian services and superfluous expressions of human earning , the governor is a crumbus interparus, a rare gift to human race whom we cannot do without, hence my resolve to join APC today".
The lawmaker defected with the Labour Party Chairman Abakaliki LGA, Mr Innocent Oriji who is one of his hardcore supporters, the former leader Abakaliki legislative council, Hon. Emmanuel Nwandegu and over thousands of teeming supporters.
The wife of the governor of the State, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru welcomed the Honourable Member and his supporters on behalf of the governor of the State and assured him and his supporters of total inclusiveness.
