The members of Ebonyi State Agricultural Land Development Authority, led by the Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Loveth Chidimma Elekwachi-Akpa, this Monday, visited the Chairman of Ikwo LGA, Hon. Barr. Sunday Basil Nwankwo in his office at the council headquarters Onuebonyi Echara.
The Board said their visit was to seek cooperation and establish a productive relationship with the Council. They noted that their objectives encompassed enhancing food security, promoting agricultural production - particularly rice, utilizing government lands, and introducing beverage crop cultivation to alleviate scarcity in the Eastern region and Ebonyi State in particular.
Hon. Barr. Nwankwo expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing Ikwo LGA's agricultural priority and the need for optimal land use to achieve food security. He outlined plans for an "Aggressive Subsistence Farming" initiative to maximize land cultivation, anticipating government support for the upcoming crop season.
A member of the board, Prof. Simon Nwibo highlighted the board's goal of professionalizing agriculture, and advocating for a shift from subsistence to commercial farming.

The board's composition reflects a diverse range of expertise, including Hon. Mrs. Loveth Chidimma Elekwachi-akpa as Chairman and Hon. Maxwell Nwali as executive secretary while Prof. Simon Nwibo serves as the Rep. Agriculture and Engr. Chukwuma Ojeogu among others as members.
