The wife of Ebonyi state governor Chief Mrs. Maudlin Uziamaka Nwifuru Monday inaugurated her pet program, Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO) in Ivo local government of the state.
The program according to Mrs. Nwifuru serves as pillars of support and beacons of hope for those in need.
She explained that the foundation came out of her desire to make a positive impact, to uplift communities, and to create a better world for future generations.
She said, "It is my great pleasure to stand before you today, to inaugurate the Ivo Local Government committee for our modest program, ‘Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO).’ Today marks the beginning of a significant journey, one that is filled with purpose, dedication, and the noblest of intentions.
"BERWO Foundation play crucial roles in Ebonyi State, serving as pillars of support and beacons of hope for those in need. BERWO is born out of a desire to make a positive impact, to uplift communities, and to create a better world for future generations.
The governor's wife during the program commissioned BERWO Health Center and Hand Pump Borehole constructed Ivo Local Government Area.
"These projects stand as testaments to our commitment to improving the quality of life for all indigenes and residents of Ivo Local Government Area and ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
"The completion of these projects is a result of diligent planning, hard work, and collaboration between the government, development partners, and the community. They represent our collective efforts to address the pressing needs of our community and to create an environment that fosters growth, prosperity, and well-being.
"As we embark on this journey together, let us remember the core values that guide us - integrity, empathy, and accountability. Let us be dedicated to the cause, and let us approach every challenge with a spirit of collaboration and innovation.
"The success of the BERWO Foundation will depend on the collective efforts of everyone. Each of us brings unique skills, perspectives, and experiences to the table, and it is through our collective strength that we will achieve our goals.
On his part, chairman of the local government area, Chief Emmanuel Ajah promised to support the program of the Governor's wife.
"Ivo people loves you and we will support your programs.
People of Ivo local government have vowed to support the leadership of Governor Francis Nwifuru.
"This program that is being inaugurated today by our dear mother, will librate our women and children from the untold hardship as the current state of our society is bitting hard on our people".
Ajah commended the unequal achievements of the state Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in less than one year in office and pledged the undivided support of the people of Ivo Local Government Area to his administration.
The Royal Fathers however, conferred a Chieftaincy title of 'UGEGBE' to Mrs Nwifuru as a mark of honor to her positive contribution in bettering the lots of women, children and the downtrodden in the state.
