The Commissioner for Border peace and conflict Resolution Dr Donatus Ilang has warned communies in Ebonyi state to desist from double taxation. The Commissioner gave the advise during a meeting with the stakeholders of Ezillo communities and Executive and members of Ebonyi state tippers Drivers Association at old Govt House Abakaliki.
The Comm reiterated that Governor of Ebonyi Rt. Hon Builder Ogbonna Nwifuru policy of administration centers on the needs and welfare of the people this have endeared the people close to the Government.
He therefore noted that introduction of the double taxation is contrary to the policies of the present Administration and therefore charged Ezillo communities to drop the recent tolls been contested by the tipper drivers Association
Dr Ilang further advised the stakeholders against blocking of federal Roads of Abakaliki/Enugu high ways noting that such actions is inimical to the image of the state.
Special Assistant to the Governor on IGR Mr Emeka Ofoke stated that revenue accuring to host communies in Ebonyi state has been captured in consolidated Internal generated revenues of Government.
In their speaches, the chairman of Ebonyi State Tipper Drivers Association comrade onicha chinedu c ,chukwuebuka chukwu and victor chibuike Igwe lamented on the recent tolls imposed on their members at Ezillo quarry site and called on the Government to rescue the members of the association.
In their own contributions Barr chibuike onwe , Eze peter and Aba James noted that the relationship between the tipper Drivers and Ezillo communities have been peaceful , irrespective of the little or Minor differences and however promised to ensure permanent peace in the quarry site. They futher appreciated the Government for timely intervention on the matter.
