Ebonyi State Governor, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has joined friends and well wishers to celebrate the first civilian Executive Governor of the State, Sen. Sam Ominyi Egwu who clocked 70 on Thursday.
Governor Nwifuru described the celebrant as human capital developer, whose administration marked the state's dawn of literacy and education.
"On the special occasion of your birthday celebration, I want to extend on behalf of my family, Government and good people of Ebonyi State, my warmest wishes and heartfelt congratulations", he said.
The Governor continued "Your dedication and service to our great state have left a lasting impact, and we are forever grateful for being associated with literacy, scholarship and unassailable human capital development.
"Your leadership and vision have inspired a generation of public servants, including myself, your legacy continues to shape our state's progress, and we strive to build upon the foundation you laid".
He stated that the ex-governor's legacies have continued to inform his decisions in the war against illiteracy and ignorance.
"Thank you for your tireless efforts to make our state a better place. I am honored to follow in your footsteps and continue the work you started in our war against illiteracy and ignorance".
Responding, Sen Egwu said " I am humbled by the show of love of Governor Nwifuru for his honour. This is one of the happiest day of my life."
Former Governor Egwu stated that honesty and accountability have continued to characterised the administration of Governor Nwifuru.
"Your coming to power is divine, not man's making. Governor Nwifuru is building human beings. He is committed to the growth of Ebonyi State and a very honest man".
The Governor was joined by members of the Executive Council, Ex -cabinet members of the celebrant and other stakeholders of the state.
