Ikwo Council Chairman Sets To Launch 'Operation Back To Farm'

Every arrangements has been concluded by Ikwo Local Government Council to launch 'operation back to farm', an Agricultural program meant to encourage people and to embrace farming to guarantee food security and Sufficiency in the council area.

According to a statement from the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area Barr Sunday Nwankwo, reads in part;

"In line with the policy thrust of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, FCAI, GGCEHF, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State to revolutionalize the Agriculture Sector in the State anchored on the People’s Charter of Needs; the Executive Chairman, Ikwo LGA. Hon. Barr. Sunday B. Nwankwo in his avowed determination to ensure aggressive subsistence farming to guarantee Food Security and Sufficiency in the area, will officially launch this year’s Farming Season and flag off free distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers and improved Palm Seedlings to Primary and Junior Secondary Schools in the Council which is in line with the Green Initiative of his Legacy Administration and establishment of Palm Plantation in our Schools.

"To this end, the following are cordially invited to the launching and flag off ceremony, there are:
➢ Stakeholders of Ikwo L.G.A;
➢ Chairman of “All Farmers Association” in Ikwo L.G.A;
➢ Selected/Pilot Farmers from the 20 electoral wards;
➢ The Secretary, Local Education Authority;
➢ The Principals of the Junior Secondary Schools;
➢ The Headmasters/Headmistress of the Primary Schools and indeed all lovers of Agriculture in Ikwo LGA as scheduled below:



"Date: Thursday, 20th June, 2024
Venue: Ikwo Local Government Area Headquarters, Onuebonyi Echara.
Time: 10:00am prompt.

"The ceremony will feature lectures on Modern Agricultural practices, improved methods of rice and cassava production cum highbred palm plantation for optimum yield. 
Under the distinguished Chairmanship of Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, JP, Speaker, 
Ebonyi State House of Assembly. 

"Special Guests of Honour:
Princess Nkechinyere Iyoku,
The Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources and Prof. Awo Nwobashi, 
Commissioner for Education (Primary & Secondary), Ebonyi State".
