The new Exco, led by Comrade Nkechinyere Oginyi, were sworn in, Wednesday, at Dr Sam Egwu Press Centre, Abakaliki.
Other elected executives are: Nnenna Benedict, vice Chairperson, Okpara Oko Ebere, financial secretary, Chinwe Imo-Eze, Secretary. Dr Chinelo Okoro, Assistant Secretary, and Pauline Nwaneri for state auditor.
In her remark, NAWOJ national president, Mrs Aisha Ibrahim, appreciated members for their peaceful disposition and appealed they continue making the women in the media profession proud.
Aisha, who was represented by the Vice President, Zone C, Comr Uzoamaka Agbo, also tasked the new executives to set an agenda that would be beneficial to the association.
Earlier, the state chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ebonyi state chapter, Comrade Samson Nwafor described the new executives as the most peaceful, adding that the association had for the past three years never relented in making sure that they maintain their support to the union and advised them to keep the flag flying.
The chairman, who was represented by the secretary, Comrade Nnamdi Akpa, commended NAWOJ leadership in the state and enjoined them to continue to be professional and articulated in their job for the interest of the state.
In her remark, the newly elected Chairman, Mrs Nkechinyere Oginyi, appreciated members for their support and prayers, appealing for more as to perform her role optimally.
Nkechinyere, who is Ebonyi state Correspondent of BusinessDay Newspaper, maintained that with the support of members that her office would attract partnership, that would be beneficial to all.
"Currently, we are aware of what is happening and NAWOJ is championing gender mainstreaming , GBV and other causes which has been part of our activities but this time around, we are going to intensify our advocacy.
"As Women Journalists, I know that we are the voice of the voiceless, downtrodden, and widows in the society, the less privileged, orphans and the vulnerable Hence we will continue to speak for them.
"And as it concerns gender mainstreaming especially in the media Houses, NAWOJ will continue to advocate until that goal is achieved. I am calling that you continue to share that idea no matter how hard it is, but, for the interest of women Journalists. Oginyi stated.
