The chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Ebonyi State Chapter, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha has appealed to all Nigerians to shelf the planned nationwide protest because leaders are working assiduously hard to holistically bring every issue to its knees.
Chief Emegha made the appeal while speaking on the planned protest in his office in Abakaliki, the State's capital.
He applauded, the State Governor, Nwifuru for taking early, decisive and strategic measures to address the challenges brought by the removal of fuel subsidy. Chief Emegha reiterated that the increment of salaries of civil servants, 50 billion naira to grant disbursed for the purpose of oiling the economy among other measures have since brought relief to the people.
The party boss, Chief Emegha who went further to commend the state governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for making Ebonyi people enjoy the dividends of democracy even when some Nigerians were finding it difficult to eke out a living noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has performed except that a few individuals were not honest with the execution of key projects like distribution of palliatives among others by the federal government.
Although, he opined that in as much as protest has remained an integral part of democracy, the people should weigh other options to expressing their discontentment rather than taking to the streets because in the past such action degenerated into some sorts of violence.
Chief Emegha who is also a security guru appealed to the youths to deploy more of constructive criticisms and dialogue to address issues rather than protest in order to deprive enemies of the state an opportunity to unleash mayhem on innocent and law abiding citizens of the country.
However, he called on the security agencies to beef up security, apply good intelligence and be more civil in their approach in case the protest still takes place as proposed on 1st through 10th of this month.
