Bank of Agriculture, Rural business initiative, has indicated its readiness to partner Association of micro credit institution of Nigeria (AMCIN) to improve local business and farming activities in the rural areas of the state.

Mr Adeh Benjamin Nnamdi, a  representative of Bank of Agriculture, Rural Business initiative, Oko branch in Anambra State revealed this at the weekend when he and his team paid a courtesy call on Princess Nweke Comfort, the southeast zonal Cordinator Of Association of Micro-Credit Institutions of Nigeria (AMCIN) in her office at the Centenary City Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.

According to Mr Adeh, he considered it necessary to pay a visit to the office of the south East Zonal Cordinator having followed the programs and activities of the Association of Micro-Credit Institutions of Nigeria (AMCIN), their agenda on how to improve lives of farmers and traders, especially in the rural areas.

"I am here as a representative of Bank of Agriculture Rural Business initiative, Oko branch and I am here for an interactive lecture.

"We have products to help farmers and traders boost agriculture and their farming business so I believe my presence here would encourage them in their chosen area of specialization".

On the process of accessing the bank of Agriculture loan, Mr Adeh said that the organization is meant to be at the rural areas and their loan ranges from one Naira (N1.00) to per maximum of N250,000 per individual.

He said that their loan facility is accessed by applying at the World bank level and it is achieveable through group based known as cluster.

"We are not interested if your group is registered or not and the binding force that brings people together is the money involved. We have come to realize in our years of service that when a group is formed, it is either formed by one man or one family. This is not a workable solution to traders and farmers"

"There must be something keeping these groups together and not when we come in, the organizers will hastily present their family members without any common agenda. The group comprises of minimum of ten people (10) and minimum of twenty people (20).

In a situation where the group is more than twenty groups and up to fifty, it is always split to suit the target of the organization.  He said.

He announced that their loan is not grant hence, it is payable pending the duration expected to be paid and there is always a particular place for meeting and aggreed amount to be contributing.

He described Princess Nweke as a hardworking leader dedicated to the service of God and humanity. Stressing that her undeserved legacy created and passion for service is commendable. You have used your position as the South East Zonal Cordinator to touch lives positively.

Responding, the South East zonal Coordinator of AMCIN, Princess Comfort Nweke expressed her unalloyed gratitude and appreciation for the visit, and commended the visit while saying that the common goal is to quench hunger in the society by encouraging farmers and traders through improved agricultural mechanism. The idea is to reduce hunger and also ensure all who have interest in agriculture have something at hand.

" I feel very excited to receive you, the managing director of Bank of Agriculture Ebonyi State chapter and others in my office. This work needs many hands to succeed ".

"You could remember the last time we met in my office, we discussed collaboration and when this product came, you still called my attention to it. It means we are going to enjoy the relationship together"

"I want to let you know that many of our cooperative members have opened account in your office. We are yet to follow it up because there is an ongoing loan that we are assessing at the Ebonyi State University Microfinance bank.

"We are very much available and always ready to work together and achieve our aim and objectives".

She explained the cooperative under her watch and the extent they have gone in assisting the farmers. She promised to utilize judiciously every loan opportunity or assistance that would be offered to the AMCIN in Ebonyi State as the record is straight and the farmers can testify what we are doing.

"What AMCIN is doing is to establish cooperative in the rural area to become Microfinance Institution so that those old women who cannot come to the town can go and obtain their loans"
