The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions, Comrade Chinedu Ogah, OON, has commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, for implementing the policies on decongestion of inmates at the Nigeria Correctional Service, NCS and access to justice in the State.
Ogah, who is also the member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly stated this yesterday after members of his Committee paid a Courtesy call on Governor Zulum.
Disclosing this in a statement, the Chairman of the Committee on Reformatory Institutions appreciated the Governor of Borno State for his numerous empowerment programmes and creation of vocational jobs for the people of Borno State.
According to him, the initiative of Governor Zulum has helped in the reduction of crimes and youth restiveness in the State.
The Committee also applauded the Governor for the initiative he has put in place to tackle the menace of insecurity, which had before now plagued the people of the State.
"I want to commend the Governor of the State on his empowerment Programmes and how he is tackling insecurity in different parts of the State. The Governor is doing a great job, especially in the area of creating vocational jobs, which has helped to reduce crimes drastically in Borno State.
"Borno State is one of the states where decongestion of the Nigeria Correctional Service, NCS, and access to justice are properly implemented. We don't have the problem of congestion of prisons in the State."
The Chairman of the Committee thanked the Governor of Borno State for his unalloyed support to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu even as he commended all the National Assembly members of Borno State extraction for their support to the Committee.
Ogah further commended the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime for their activities in the Country, which have helped to bring sanity among youths and progress in the Country.
