EBONYI: DC Coordinator Pays Over 8million Naira Bursary To Varsity Undergraduates

The Coordinator of Amachi Development Centre Hon. (Mrs) Ifeoma Victoria Mbam has paid over eight million naira bursary awards to all the university undergraduates in the centre. 

The Coordinator who disbursed the fund to the students at the Development Centre headquarters Uwarem, said the gesture was aimed at complementing  the peoples charter of needs mantra of the State Governor Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in the grassroots. 


While commending Governor Nwifuru for his exceptional and uncommon leaderships strides especially in the area of human capital development in the State, the Coordinator noted that her adminstration would leave no stone unturned in initiating programmes that would be of beneficial to the entire Amachi people.  


Mrs Mbam thanked Governor Nwifuru for appointing her to serve in such exalted position and extended her hands of fellowship to the executive chairman of Abakaliki LGA Hon. Stephen Ebere Nwogba for his fatherly advise and support since she assumed office as the DC coordinator. 

The Coordinator who described education as the bedrock of every society, charged the students to utilize the fund judiciously, saying that the exercise would be a continous process till their graduation. 

She advised the students not to allow bad friends to lead them astray and however enjoined them to shun intake of mkpurummiri, India helm and other forms of anti social behaviour but show commitment to their studies in order to make their parents and entire Amachi development centre proud. 


On his part, the town union president of Amachi Development Union Engr. Fidelis Okata appreciated the Coordinator for stepping down the peoples charter of needs mantra of the State Governor Chief Francis Nwifuru to the grassroots and assured that the people of Amachi Community would continue to remain  supportive to the policies and programmes of the State Government at all times. 

Engr. Mbam who urged the students to use the fund wisely,  tasked them to concentrate on the studies and shun indulging into social vices that would not add value in their lives but be of a good behaviors in their respective institutions so as to graduate successfully. 

Similarly, the councilor representing Ndiebor Amachi Ward two Hon. Febian Mbam described the philanthropic gesture of the Coordinator as the first of its kind since the inception of the centre. 

He noted that the bursary payment would go along way in encouraging the youths of the centre to put much interest in education and thanked God for given the people of Amachi such kind hearted leader while urging the students to refrain from any act capable of undermining their academic pursuit in their own best interest. 

The traditional ruler of Amachi autonomous Community Eze Bonniface Nkashi Nwokeocha represented by PRO Eze's cabinet Mr Edigbo Joseph expressed glad over the leadership quality of the Coordinator and appreciated the State Governor for providing the platform in which the Coordinator is stepping on to assist her people and charged the beneficiaries not to misuse the opportunity.   


The bursary committee chairman Hon. Dennis Aziewa and the secretary Mr.  Kingsley Ezuma advised the students to show commitment to their studies to make the Coordinator proud and wish them successful graduation.  


Some of the benefitting students including the president of Amachi Development Centre undergraduates and a three hundred level political science student of Ebonyi State State University Ogbaga Martins and two hundred level student of National open university Abakaliki,  Okube Moses Anayo whose joy knew now bounds, appreciated the Coordinator for gesture and promised to utilize the golden opportunity effectively while praying God to reward her in millionfold.

Our correspondent reports that the students numbering over 400 smiled home with twenty thousand naira each.
