Gov Nwifuru's Aide Tasks Town Union Presidents On Security, Community Development

The Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Community Engagement, Hon. Paulinus Madauabuchi Nwanchor has called on Town Union Presidents in the State to above all things, prioritize peace, security and development in their various communities. He made the call while addressing members of the State and zonal executive of the forum of Town Union President in the State at a meeting held at Traditional Rulers’ Council hall Abakaliki. 

The Special Assistance to the Governor emphasized that peace, security, unity and undivided support to the State government is crucial to attracting community development in line with the State Governor’s people charter of needs, which also focuses on welfare and development of people at the grassroots level. He promised to work with town union presidents at all levels to continuously mobilize and engage communities on need for peaceful coexistence, security of their environment/government projects and sensitizing them on the policy thrust of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s administration in the State.
Hon. Nwanchor who expressed satisfaction with the activities of the forum of town union Presidents in the State, Zonal and Local Government levels, revealed that his office would soon embark on tour of communities in the State. He stressed that such engagement meeting with town union presidents and other community leaders would be a regular routine. The SA further explained that the tour, advocacy visits and regular meeting would focus on stepping down the policies of government, campaign for peace, supervision of government projects and getting feedback from the people at the grassroots on the impact of government policies in their communities.    
Responding on behalf of the town union presidents, the Chairman of the forum, Chief Ugochukwu Akpa and the Secretary, Mr. Alu Ikechukwu Onwa thanked the SA for such a fruitful and all-important meeting, which has helped them to be abreast of what is expected of them as town union president. They promised that with the sense of belonging now given to them, they would intensify efforts at ensuring adequate security, peace, unity and protection of government projects in their localities. They also appealed for government to attend to some of their challenges, which include lack of office space, logistics challenges and their non-involvement in community projects formulation and implantations.

The fruitful meeting with the Governor’s SA on Community Engagement was well attended by the State executive of town union Presidents forum, zonal leaders and local government Chairmen of the forum.
