Senator Nwebonyi Flaggs Off Phase 1 Of 10km Ebonyi North Internal Road Construction

The Senate Deputy Chief Whip and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district,  Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi has formally flagged off the construction of the first phase of 2kms out of the 10kms Ogbala- Izenyi-Iga-Ede-Nduidenyi road leading to Onuenyim in Ebonyi LGA of Ebonyi state. 

While addressing the villagers, Senator Nwebonyi noted that he had attracted over 10kms of road project scattered across the council areas of Ebonyi North Senatorial zone just within one year in office adding that he would do more within the remaining three years and upon the renewal of his mandate. He stressed that he decided to reward the people of Ndiegu-ward for their massive votes for the ruling APC being one of the largest wards in Ebonyi local government area.
“ I decided to construct this road as a reward for the massive support I got from you during the election. Onuenyim ward is the biggest ward in Ebonyi local government area. This road construction will be accompanied by  solar powered street lights, drainage channels from the park including boreholes to be drilled here in the next few days. Morever, as I’m building roads, I’m also building people, by December, 2024, I’m going to empower a lot of people from this community.”

Senator Nwebonyi who doubles as the Vice chairman of ECOWAS Parliament’s Standing Committee on Education, Sciences and Culture  also hinted that another road construction will begin before December 2024 at Uloenwu road  in Ebonyi council area adding that there are ongoing road construction in Abakaliki and Izzi local government area and Ohaukwu to be captured next year. 
“ The Ogbala Onuenyim  road is about 10kms but we shall begin with 2kms and keep pushing until it gets to Onuenyim.  I have attracted over 10,kms of road to my Constituency just within one year, you can imagine what it will be in the next fours years and beyond if my mandate is renewed. I believe that as leaders, we must do projects that people will remember long after we have left office. I will continue to give you effective representation.” He said,

The astute Parliamentarian  called on the people to keep faith with the wonder-working governor of Ebonyi state-His Excellency, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and continue to support APC at all levels. He noted that this makes a total of 9.5 kms road construction within just one year in office adding that one could imagine what it will be in the next four years and above if the tenure is extended. He also solicited for their cooperation with the contractors by providing them with security and all they need to carry out the project successfully.
In his remarks, Hon Mike Njoku-a former Coordinator of Mbeke DC and road project supervisor appreciated the Senator for his effective representation and his ceaseless love for the community. He reeled out some of his achievements to include building of houses for over 80 widows and distribution of 20 cars and 100 motorcycles, scholarships, empowerments among others. He stated that Ndiegu-ward remains eternally grateful to him.

On his part, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers,  Mbeke branch- Comrade Nwofoke Benjamin thanked the Senator for attracting the road project which he said will facilitate transportation of goods and services.

A stakeholder from the village, Chief Mathias Njoku speaking on behalf of the Village head thanked Senator Nwebonyi for the kind gestures recalling how he built a house for a widow in his own village upon his request when he visited him some time ago. He prayed God to safeguard and propel him to greater heights.

A titled man from the community, Chief Nwekuma Udeogu expressed happiness for the road construction and other developmental projects attracted by Senator Nwebonyi to them while praying God to promote him to greater heights.

The event was witnessed by many stakeholders and cheerful villagers who could not hide their joys for the all-important road construction.
