The NUJ Thanksgiving which took place at Our Lady Health of the Sick Chaplaincy, AE-FUTHA, Abakaliki, recorded huge turnout of media practitioners across the state who came to join in thanksgiving to God for His mercies and kindness.
Earlier in his Homely, the Priest in charge of Our Lady Health of the Sick Chaplaincy, AE-FUTHA Abakaliki,Rev.Fr.Philip Afam Uguru, thanked members of the union for recognizing the importance of Thanksgiving as a Christian and also used the opportunity to enjoin Christians all over the world to embrace salvation which Christ has laid the foundation for mankind, saying that salvation is the key as it is only God that could save, for what shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and loses his soul.
He further explained that how you acquired your wealth and how you use it matters alot, adding that Money does not solve every problem as there are things money cannot buy because they are priceless.
"How you acquired your wealth and how you use it matters alot.Money does not solve every problem. Some people are so poor that the only thing they have is money while some are so rich that they only thing they don't have is money. There are things that are priceless that money cannot buy."
It will be easier for a camel to pass through a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of God, because most rich men allow their hearts to be where their money and wealth are instead of trusting their hearts to God.
"Salvation is the key, only God can save you.May God give us the wisdom to know the shortness of our lives.What shall it profit us to gain the whole world and lose our soul in hell," the Priest admonished.
Shortly after the thanksgiving Church Service, there was a mini reception at the NUJ Press Centre, Abakaliki.
Speaking during the reception, the chairman of the 2024 Press week planning committee,Mr.Amechi Odo applauded all members of the Council for giving them opportunity to serve in that capacity and for a successful press week.He noted that one of the essence of leadership change is to have new ideas and ways of doing things, noting that Ebonyi NUJ leadership under Comrade Samson Nwafor has truly brought new positive ideas and new ways of doing things for the benefits of all.
He thanked the people for their support, saying, people's participation and support to a leadership makes it possible to actualize its goals.

used the opportunity to appreciate all members for their unwavering support and success recorded during the NUJ press week.
He prayed God to reward everyone who contributed in one way or the other towards the success of the press week, even as he charged members to continue to discharge their duties inline with the ethics of the profession for the growth and development of Ebonyi state.
