It was all joy as the people of Owutu Edda autonomous community formally received their Traditional Ruler, Ezeogo Ama Otuu Uzor - The Utumakpa 10th of Owutu Edda autonomous community at their community square, after having been presented with staff of office and certificate of recognition by Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifiru.
The event was also used to honour some of those who are playing vital roles towards the success and development of the community. Some of them were the state All Progressive Chairman , Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the member representing Afikpo/Edda federal constituency in the national assembly, Chief Iduma Igariwey and Osuu Simon Igwe-Iroh of Ebonyi broadcast corporation ( EBBC).
The Owutu Edda town union president, Chief George Okoro who set the tone for the event said it was to appreciate God for his benevolence to the good people of Owutu who gathered to receive and rejoice with their traditional ruler, Ezeogo Ama Otuu Uzor on his official recognition by the state government following the presentation of staff of office and certificate of recognition given to him as well as to honour sons and friends of the community.
Addressing his people, Ezeogo Ama Otuu Uzor thanked God and governor Francis NWIFURU for making it possible and the entire Owutu people for their support, especially Osuu Simon Igwe-Iroh who stood by him when it mattered most. Ezeogo Ama Otuu pledged to be traditional ruler of all Owutu people and to make peace the plank of his reign.
Osuu Simon Igwe-Iroh who bagged the chieftaincy title of Ugwu Ogo 1 of Utumakpa kingdom , meaning the pride of his community, said that he was happy that God made it possible for Owutu people to succeed in having a recognized traditional ruler after the death of the utumakpa the nineth, describing
his role as an act of God.
He called for a process of reconciliation while urging the traditional ruler to forgive those who stood on his way during the struggle and to recourse to the the people in the event of challenges.
In their good will messages, Chief Iduma Igariwey, the state APC chairman Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha represented by Mr Steven Orji Igwe of Edda East constituency and the immediate past Auditor General of local government, Chief George Ukpai congratulated Ezeogo Ama Otuu Uzor and wished him peaceful reign.
Others who equally bared their minds were former commissioner for information and state orientation,Ebonyi state Chief Abia Onyike, Prince Nwafor Otuu and owutu woman leader, Mrs Juliana Agwu. They also pledged to lend their support to successful reign of their brand new traditional ruler, Ezeogo Ama Otuu Uzor and appreciated Governor Nwifuru for answering their prayers.
