Police Confirms Arrest Of 17 Suspects For Allegedly Setting Man Ablaze

Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 17 suspects in Enohia Itim village, in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi of State for murder of Uromchi Okorocha who was accused by local youths of being involved in the killing of several individuals through alleged witchcraft and spiritual means.

 

Police spokesperson in Abuja Olumuyiwa Adejobi said this to journalists in Ebonyi State, saying the suspects had mobilized and apprehended the deceased and took the law into their hands before the arrival of police operatives of the Uwanna Division.

 

Adejobi says the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, condemned the act of jungle justice in totality. He says Citizens should refrain from taking laws into their hands and report any suspected criminal activities to the nearest police division or formation around them for necessary action.

 

Our Correspondent in Ebonyi State, Emmanuel Nnaji, reports that Egbetokun says the efforts of the police are constantly reaffirm their dedication to bring perpetrators of heinous acts of crime to book.
