A revolution is coming and this revolution will be peaceful if we are wise enough; compassionate if we care enough; successful if we are fortunate enough but a revolution is coming whether we will accept it or not.
It is within our powers to significantly affect its character but we cannot alter its inevitability. The revolution is here now and it's politically inclined. It is a silent one that is devoid of all alternatives.
The deep rottenness of politics and disunity among the great Ezza nation of Ebonyi State and avoidable dirty political system threaten all the political and economic gains this giant state has made. In her position as first born of Ekumenyi, the proriginator of Abakaliki political bloc, the absence of a rallying point in terms of sound leadership had threatened the existence of this great clan.
Apart from ranking as one of the most populous clans in Ebonyi State, Ezza nation as fondly called also ranks high in terms of both human development and political depth which, if put to maximum use and well harnessed and processed would be one of the leading clans in Igbo land.
To say the least, the Ezza problems are indeed complex and multifaceted and that constitute the major stumbling block on the path of her progress in many ways and sectors of development. As a result of these cumulative problems over the years, it had become very difficult to have a centrally accepted leader in whose command and directive, the entire great nation submits.
As Ezza nation unfortunately wallowed along its growing problems over the years, which principally is lack of stable and sound leadership, it has also been left lagging behind other clans within Ebonyi State in area of political stability, without leveraging on its population and financial stability, a record they hold over others.
This is the present condition, which warrants the intervention of a savior in the scene, hence the emergence of Senator Kenneth Emeka Eze as not just the Senator representing Ebonyi Central but as central processing unit of Ezza Ezekuna unity and self rediscovery.
The leadership of Senator Eze can be in a metaphorical form of either in the entrenchment of a viable socio-political system which is also being dedicatedly practiced or the emergence of a set of responsible and responsive leader and leadership that would deliver the clan to the proverbial promised land of advancement and glory.
This cannot just happen in a dream, but it would have to be worked out through a communal effort of action and willing by plan and design, not just by accident but requires the concerted efforts of Ezza sons and daughters to not just accept Senator Ken Eze but to protect these values and influence of the change he brings to bear.
In fact, today's generation of Ezza nation is left with no any other legacy but remembrance of the old good days of development and communal unity among Ezza nation and largely among other existing blocs within Ebonyi State.
Come to think of sound leadership that was neatly and rightly put in place by past leaders in the persons of late Senator Offia-Nwali, Mgbada and Vincent Usulor among others had remained comatose before God and fate brought Eze to the front burner.
We gradually found ourselves slipping away from rendering public services to rendering private services for money in return. That is to say, we are sub-consciously turning to individualistic and selfish lifestyle, discarding the unity and love which Ezza man was known for.
Ken Eze's ascendancy to the big shoes of Offia-Nwali, Usulor as Mgbadas should not just be a change for change's sake, but change to preserve Ezza ideals of life, liberty, the pursuit of common happiness and living together without rancor and bringing back the communal lifestyle of the vintage Ezza.
Senator Eze must be conscious of the fact that we march to the music of our time, our mission is timeless. Each generation of Ezza must define what it means to be an Ebonyian. We know we have to face hard truths and take strong steps above our adversity and name calling. But we have not done so. Instead, we have drifted, and that drifting has eroded our political resources, fractured our economy, and shaken our confidence in each other, resulted in wasting of lives and other valuables.
Though our challenges are fearsome, so are our strengths. And our people have ever been a restless, questing, hopeful people. We must bring to our task today the vision and the will of those who led this state and still leading. Key into the Peoples Charter of needs of the present administration under Governor Francis Nwifuru. Our population must not only be the envy of others but the engine of our own renewal and unity in the entire state.
There is nothing wrong with Ezza nation that cannot be fixed by what is right. And so today, we must pledge an end to the era of non strategic political adventure occasioned by lack of Central leadership in Ezza and cultural drift, a new season of Ezza renewal has begun. To achieve this, we must be bold. We must do what no generation has done before. We must invest more in our own people, in their jobs, in their future, and at the same time eschew the pull him down syndrome and rally round Senator Eze at this moment to provide the leadership.
There should be relentless exposure of every evil man, whether politician or business man, every evil practice, whether in politics, business, or social life. The liar is not better than the thief, and if his mendacity takes the form of slander, he may be worse than most thieves. It puts a premium upon knavery untruthfully to attack an honest man, or even with hysterical exaggeration to assail a bad man with untruth.
An epidemic of indiscriminate assault upon character does no good, but very great harm. The soul of every scoundrel is gladdened whenever an honest man is assailed, or even when a scoundrel is untruthfully assailed. Those whose stock in trade is to cast aspersions on every emerging or already emerged leader in Ezza nation must be reminded that every generation comes with her own peculiarities and leadership to surmount every challenges.
This, Senator Eze must change to give equal rights to every Ezza man irrespective of geographical location.
However, it will not be easy for Senator Eze especially in the face of obvious internal sabotage from his compatriots but it will require heroic sacrifice. It can be done, and done fairly, not choosing the sacrifice for its own sake, but for Ezza sake.
He must provide for his people the way a family provides for its children. If he doesn't lead today, nobody will follow him tomorrow. Our Founding fathers like the late Senator Ofia Nwali and others saw themselves in the light of posterity. Ken Eze can do no less.
I believe he has the same courage they had then to steer the wheels of change and development through the troubled and turbulent waters in Ebonyi state. Anyone who has ever watched a child's eyes wander into sleep knows what posterity is. Posterity is the world to come - the world for which we hold our ideals, from which we have borrowed our planet, and to whom we bear sacred responsibility.
He must do what America does best; offer more opportunity to all according to their talents and demand more responsibility of all. It is time to break the bad habit of expecting something for nothing, from our government or from each other. Let us all take more responsibility, not only for ourselves and for our families but for our communities, for our state and for our country.
To renew Ezza spirit and save her from this bondage, we must evolve a certain consciousness that in Ken Eze, there is a seeming light at the end of the tunnel.
It is high time we came together irrespective of our cultural, sectional differences, to obliterate the cog in the wheel of our progress which has kept dividing us in our quest to have a lone commonality in Ebonyi State.
There are solemn duties of Senator Ken Eze which he must accomplish if he wants to write his name on the sand of time. This includes mainly but not limited to uniting the entire Ezza nation under one umbrella to support the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru beyond 2027.
With this agenda, Senator Ken Eze must abolish this already existing disparity between the government and Ezza nation by bridging the gap and assurance of the complete support and loyalty of Ezza nation to the administration of Governor Nwifuru. There will be positive consequences of doing this.
