The people of Amuzu and Ndiebor Amuzu villages have been called to embrace peace and ensure smooth selection of a new village head for their newly created Ndiebor Amuzu village in Igbeagu Autonomous Community of Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The Hon Commissioner for Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Donatus Ilang gave this directive in his office while mediating over the village leadership tussle in Ndiebor Amuzu village, he noted that the creation of new villages and communities in the State was neccesitated for administrative convenience, emphasizing that the peace and unity of the affected Communities remain paramount in order for them to attract more development devidents.
The Hon Commissioner directed the Traditional Ruler of Igbeagu Autonomous Community, his His Royal Highness, Eze Ogbonnaya Ukwa to liase with the stakeholders of Igbeagu community and the leadership of Amuzu village to determine the units of the villages that constituted the newly created Ndiebor Amuzu village before embarking on either selection or election of Ndiebor Amuzu village head.
Dr Ilang further frowned at the attitude of those who defiled the State Government's directive to put on hold issues concerning the selection or election of Ndiebor Amuzu village head and warned strictly that such action remains null and void of no effect, so as to avoid it generating lawlessness in the said Community.
The Conflict Resolution Boss however directed that Anthony Nwite who had been the village Head of Amuzu before the Creation of Ndiebor Amuzu should remain the village head work with the leadership of Igbeagu Community to asertain the geographical locations of the newly created villages.
Earlier in his remarks, a stakeholder from the Community and the Ebonyi State Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Richard Idike, reiterated that the creation of the new village is just for administrative convenience and even development which should bring joy and not rancor.
The traditional Ruler of Igbeagu Community, His Royal Highness, Eze Ogbonnaya Ukwa, and the village head of the defunct Amuzu village, Chief Anthony Nwite and a stakeholder from the village, Chief Andrew Nwandugo all expressed their readiness to maintain peace in the Community and promised to abide by the decision of the state Government. They further thanked the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for the creating of villages and autonomous communities in the State and appreciated the Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution for the proactive measures he has taken to forestall breach of peace in the Area.
