Nkalaha Massacre: PDP Chieftain Calls For Thorough Investigation, Justice For Victims

By  Celestine Okeh

Chieftain of the opposition people's Democratic party PDP,  and the 1st Vice chairman of the party, Ebonyi central, Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu has commiserated with the family of victim of Nkalaha massacre, calling on the state government and relevant security agencies to ensure that thorough investigation is carried out and justice served.

This was contained in a statement he titled:
'ENOUGH OF THE BLOODSHED IN AMAGU-NKALAHA COMMUNITY, ISHEILU LGA – GOVERNMENT MUST ACT NOW' which he personally signed and made available to The Times News.

Read the statement bellow;

"I commiserate with the people of Amagu-Nkalaha Community in Isheilu Local Government Area over the tragic and senseless killings that have left families in mourning. My deepest sympathies go to the victims’ families, the injured, and the entire Amagu-Nkalaha community during this painful time. This is a heartbreaking and devastating attack, and I stand in full solidarity with my people.

"As the 1st Vice Chairman, PDP Ebonyi Central Zone, I am deeply outraged that such gruesome violence continues to occur in our communities. This is not just an attack on Amagu-Nkalaha but on the entire Ebonyi Central Zone, and we cannot remain silent while innocent lives are lost.

"It is unacceptable that such tragedies keep happening without justice. I, therefore, call on the Ebonyi State Government, security agencies, and all relevant authorities to act swiftly by ensuring:

"1. A full-scale investigation to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators. Justice must be served, and those behind this heinous act must be held accountable.

"2. Increased security presence in Isheilu LGA and other vulnerable areas. Ebonyi Central must not be allowed to descend into lawlessness.

"3. A sustainable security framework to prevent future attacks. Reactive measures are not enough, we need lasting solutions.

"A CALL FOR INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE TO SOLVE THE SECURITY CRISIS

"In light of these recurring security challenges, I strongly advise the Ebonyi State Government to immediately set up a high-powered security committee across the three senatorial zones, regardless of party affiliation. This committee should comprise respected natives from each zone, tasked with:

"Identifying the root causes of these attacks and recommending lasting solutions.

"Investigating the role of insiders in facilitating these violent raids. It is evident that no attack of this scale happens without internal collaborators aiding external forces.

"Fostering an inclusive governance approach where all communities feel protected and valued.

"The government must listen to the people, security cannot be handled in isolation. A government of inclusivity is the only way forward, where solutions are developed by those directly affected.

"The people of Amagu-Nkalaha, Isheilu LGA, and Ebonyi Central deserve peace, not endless bloodshed. I stand with my people and will continue to push for justice, security, and lasting peace in our land.

"Enough is enough. Let justice be done, and let peace prevail".

Hon. Chief Kevin Tobias Chukwu (Ochiri Ozua 1 of Amagu Ikwo)
1st Vice Chairman, PDP Ebonyi Central Zone
