The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South East region, Mrs. Chioma Nweze has revealed the preparedness of her office to launch two community empowerment programs in the South East region.
Nweze noted that the programs tittled 'launching skill-up S-East through fashion training and health initiative' are designed to empower communities in the South East region of Nigeria.
The president Tinubu's aide, Nweze who made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State, however, invited prominent stakeholders of the region, including governors to be part of the event scheduled to hold on 8th March, 2025 at the Vocational Centre, Uburu, Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State.
She stated that the first program, "Skill-Up South East Agenda: Unveiling Fashion Potentials," is a 4-month free tailoring training exercise aimed at unveiling the fashion potential in Igbo-Land. The comprehensive empowerment package includes
"Free 4-month training in tailoring and fashion, Free accommodation for the duration of the program, Empowerment with modern tailoring facilities.
Also "Training in video editing to enhance media potential, Mentorship and guidance from industry experts, Opportunity to develop a business plan and pitch.
Nweze noted further that the second program,which is inline with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's promotion of healthy communities in the South East region of Nigeria, offers;
"Free cancer screening for 6 months, Free eye testing and free glasses for the first 200 patients and Free dialyses for one year.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that "This health program is done in conjunction with the David Umahi Federal University of Health Science and the Ebonyi State Government".
The senior special assistant to the President, Nweze, however, called for the collaboration of the leaders of the region to ensure that, "these prestigious events and exploring potential avenues for discovering and developing hidden talents in the region" she said.
