Commissioner Sues For Peace In Ebonyi Mining Community

The Commissioner for Border peace and conflict Resolution, Dr Donatus chukwuma Ilang has appealed to the leadership and people of Ohankwu village to unite together and work in harmony with the management of First Patriot MINNING company operating in Ohankwu and Amana boundary areas. 


The Commissioner mad the appeal on Wednesday during an  enlarged stakeholders meeting with the people of Ohankwu, management of First patriot MINNING company and other Government functionaries held at Ohankwu Village square.

Dr Ilang enumerated benefits  accurable to the host communities to includes  provision of social amenities, improved health care Facilities ,scholarship and gainful employment. He noted that Ebonyi State Government is concerned about the welfare of the people and therefore will do all within his reach to ensure full compliance of the MINNING company to the Community development agreement.


He futher assured the people that  some areas in the mining site will be mapped out for the local minners to coexist with the MINNING company .

In his remarks the Hon Commissioner for solid mineral and development communities Hon chidi Onyia  urged the leadership of the village to ensure inclusive administration, fairness and equity in distribution of benefits that will be coming to the communities.He assured that his office will ensure that the MINNING company engaged directly with the people and advised the youths to shun cultism and focus on improving their skills to suit with the global trends and suit with the society.

In their responses the chairman of Ohankwu village  Mr Ifeanyi Elechi, and a stakeholder of the village sir Johnson Aloh and Mr Nwali Jackindo appealed to the state Government to assist them , benefit from the Natural resources  bestowed in their Land. They thanked the Government of Ebonyi State for restoring peace between Ohankwu and it's neigbouing villages and the commissioners for soliciting for their welfare and development of their villages. 


First patriot MINNING company was represented at the Meeting by the Executive Director SAT
YA and  the the company manager TENSINGH.
