S/East PDP NVC Egwu, Congratulates Anyanwu On Supreme Court Victory

The National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Southeast Zone, Chief  Chidiebere Egwu has congratulated Senator Samuel Anyanwu on his victory at the supreme court on Friday as the  National Secretary of the party in the zone.

He expressed satisfaction with the uprightness of the Justices of the Supreme Court for upholding the constitution of the party as well as the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In an interview with journalists after the apex court ruling, Egwu described the judgment as good omen for the nation"s democracy which has  restored hope to millions of members of the PDP across the country.

“This ruling also is a clear signal that political desperation and inordinate ambition cannot take anyone far", he said.

Hon. Egwu called on the National Secretary to join hands with other stakeholders and leaders of the PDP in the Southeast to recall those who left the party due to the high-handedness of some selfish persons in the party who wanted to cripple PDP for their selfish gains.

He noted that he will join hands with the National Secretary and the leaders of the party to ensure that all outstanding issues in the party, especially the outstanding State Congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra states were  conducted within the shortest possible time so that the PDP in the Southeast can bounce back in the zone ahead of the next general elections.

He lamented that due to greed and selfish leadership of some persons in the party,  PDP could not attract anyone to buy governorship forms in Anambra State for fear of the unknown.

He said, “our immediate task now as leaders of the PDP in the Southeast is to ensure that state congresses are conducted in Ebonyi and Anambra states.

“You can see that both states are suffering in the PDP and that is why no one bought form for the forthcoming November 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, with this ruling, valid congresses can now be conducted in those two states".

It is recalled that Chidiebere Egwu was nominated by stakeholders of the PDP in Ebonyi State to replace  Chief Ali Odefa after the later was suspended from his Ward in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State.

Egwu’s nomination was subsequently ratified by Southeast PDP  stakeholders of the party on January 12, 2025 while Odefa was  expelled after a disciplinary committee of the party found him culpable of alleged anti-party activities and subsequently recommended his expulsion from the party.

The  Expulsion was later upheld by the Federal High Court, Abakaliki on Wednesday 26th February 2025.
