Federal Lawmaker, Ogah: Using Culture To Instill Unity, Peace In Ikwo

The Member representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South Federal Constituency and Chairman House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah OON, has congratulated the people of Amagu Ikwo on their 2025 Aji Ereke Festival.

Ogah who played a host as one of the sons of Ikwo Local Government Area in government, stated during his speech at the just concluded cultural festival held at Edukwu Edu at Item Amagu in Ikwo Local Government Area 23rd of April, 2025 shortly after the Easter Celebration of the Christendom. 

He facilitated with his people while expressing joy and happiness for the opportunity to gather together again for the same celebration. 

" Today being 23rd of April, 2025 is the Aji Ereke Annual Cultural Carnival for the people of Amagu Ikwo. There are 23 villages partaking in this celebration and the evidence is the population present here"

" I commend the executive governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for always celebrating with us and sending a representative to this our noble celebration every year. 

" The carnival has brought us together in unity. It has enabled us to have peace and development. A lot of court cases has been withdrawn and reconciliation taken place in the village by the elders. This is one of the positive influences that our cultural heritage has done for us"

When asked the motivation behind organizing the event by the Pressman, Ogah said that he has witnessed the past leadership of Dr Sam Ominyi, Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi, Engr. David Nweze Umahi and the leadership of the current governor of Ebonyi State, Prince Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and how they used cultural heritage to bring the people together. He maintained that the above are the reasons for contributing their own quota to the growth and peace of the people by upholding the cultural heritage of the people. 

However, the executive governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru represented by the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa congratulated the people of Amagu Community for upholding and alive their cultural heritage. 

The governor reassured his continuous commitment and effort in bringing peace and development to the community, including his unrelenting effort to the announced construction of a 5km road project starting from Abina Amagu which is already captured in this 2025 State  budget. He sought for the people's continuous support of his administration and collaboration effort to the leaders at the grassroot. 

Separate speeches at the event, including the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Matthias Adum, the Principal Secretary to the governor represented by the Ebonyi Local Government Chairman, Prince Chinedu Uburu, Chief Okeagu Ogada, a representative of Ikwo Local Government Chairman, Chief Sunday Nwankwo, traditional rulers eulogized the organizers of the cultural carnival. They described the event as an annual event celebrated in Ikwo and has helped reshaped the unity, progress and facilitated development to the people of the area. 

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Prince Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Senator Kenneth Eze representing Ebonyi Senatorial District, represented by Dr Philip Eworo, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah OON, Member representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South Federal Constituency, Chief Mathias Adum, Prince Chinedu Uburu, Ikwo Local Government Chairman, Chief Sunday Nwankwo, Chief Okeagu Ogada, Commissioners, State EXCOS,  led by Deputy APC Chairman, Hon. Chinedu Nwali, Coordinators, Councilors and numerous others witnessed the event.
